FAQs

General Questions

  • We specialize in high-quality residential design projects, including full home remodels, kitchen and bath renovations, and accessible design solutions. Whether you’re transforming a single room or redesigning your entire home, we have the expertise to bring your vision to life. Our focus is on crafting spaces that are not only beautiful but also functional for the long term.

  • The timeline for each project varies depending on its size and scope. On average, most of our projects take anywhere from 6 months to over a year. This time frame allows us to thoroughly plan, design, and execute every detail, ensuring that the final result meets your expectations. During our initial consultation, we’ll give you a more specific timeline based on the unique needs of your project.

  • We are located in Ogden, Utah, and primarily serve the Weber, Davis, and Cache counties. However, we are happy to travel for projects outside these areas for an additional travel fee. We also offer virtual design services for clients who are further away or prefer remote consultations.

Design & Process Questions

  • Our design process begins with a complimentary discovery call, where we get to know you, your goals, and the scope of your project. From there, we move into an in-home or virtual consultation, where we explore your space, discuss your design preferences, and start to develop a vision. After the consultation, we create a comprehensive design plan that includes floor layouts, material selections, and renderings. Throughout the entire process, we manage the details to ensure a smooth, stress-free experience.

  • Yes! We offer both Initial Consultations and a popular Designer for a Day service, which allows you to get expert advice before committing to a larger project. During the Initial Consultation, we’ll assess your space, discuss your vision, and offer recommendations tailored to your needs. The Designer for a Day service includes up to 6 hours of hands-on design work, helping you make decisions on layout, materials, and furnishings.

  • Your level of involvement is entirely up to you. Some of our clients prefer to be hands-on throughout the process, while others trust us to take the reins. We maintain open lines of communication to ensure that you’re informed every step of the way. Whether you’re deeply engaged or prefer to be less involved, we’re here to make sure the design reflects your vision and needs.

  • Changes are a natural part of the design process, and we’re flexible in accommodating them. If you decide to make adjustments during the project, we’ll discuss the best way to implement them while keeping the timeline and budget in mind. Clear communication is key, so we’ll always ensure you’re aware of any implications that changes might have on your project’s schedule or costs.

Barrier-Free & Accessible Design Questions

  • Yes, we specialize in Barrier-Free Design, which involves creating spaces that are accessible to individuals with varying physical abilities. This type of design removes obstacles like narrow doorways, steep stairs, or inaccessible fixtures, ensuring that everyone—from individuals with disabilities to aging family members—can move comfortably through the space. Our designs are thoughtful and stylish, proving that functionality and beauty can coexist.

  • While both focus on accessibility, Universal Design aims to create spaces that are usable by all people, regardless of age or ability, without needing adaptation. ADA-Accessible Design, on the other hand, refers to standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for public and commercial spaces, making them accessible to individuals with disabilities. We apply both principles to our residential projects, ensuring that spaces are welcoming and functional for everyone, while maintaining the aesthetics you desire.

  • Absolutely! Our philosophy at Laurelwood Interiors is that accessibility and beauty go hand in hand. We design homes that are functional for all abilities without sacrificing style. From open floor plans and wider doorways to custom cabinetry and zero-step showers, we incorporate accessible features in a way that enhances the overall design of your home.

Budget & Payment Questions

  • The budget for a project can vary greatly depending on the size and scope of the work. During our initial consultation, we will discuss your budget expectations and provide a rough estimate based on your goals. As we move through the design process, we’ll refine this budget to ensure that it aligns with your vision. We believe in transparency, so you’ll always know where your money is being allocated throughout the project.

  • Our design fees cover everything from the initial concept development to project management and final installation. This includes creating layouts, selecting materials, sourcing furnishings, and coordinating with contractors and suppliers. For larger projects, we also provide 3D renderings and virtual walkthroughs to help you visualize the space before construction begins.

  • Yes, we offer flexible payment plans to help make your project more manageable. During our initial consultation, we can discuss options based on the size of your project and timeline. Our goal is to ensure that you feel comfortable with the financial aspects of your design journey, and we’ll work with you to find a payment plan that fits your needs.

Contractors & Construction Questions

  • While we prefer to work with our trusted network of contractors, who are licensed, experienced, and ensure superior communication, we are also happy to collaborate with your existing contractor if you have one. Clear communication and trust are critical, so we’ll work together to ensure your project is completed seamlessly.

  • Yes! We offer project management services, where we oversee the entire construction phase, coordinate with contractors, and ensure everything stays on schedule and within budget. Our full-service approach means we handle the details so you don’t have to worry about managing day-to-day construction logistics.

  • Remodels can sometimes reveal unforeseen challenges, such as structural issues or material delays. If any unexpected situations arise, we’ll address them promptly and keep you informed throughout the process. We approach every project with flexibility and problem-solving skills, ensuring that any challenges are handled efficiently and with minimal disruption to your project timeline.
